Volleyball team tops New London

Hortonville’s volleyball team opened Fox Valley Association play Sept. 1 by sweeping Appleton East.

The Polar Bears also handed New London a 3-0 nonconference defeat Aug. 29.

Hortonville 3, Appleton East 0

The Polar Bears opened their match with the Patriots with a pair of 25-16 wins before wrapping it up with a 25-20 win.

Team leaders included Molly Rohde (14 kills, three aces); Molly Fischer (15 digs); Marin Grossman (nine kills, 14 digs); Paige Lillie (three aces, 17 assists); and Sophie Dodd (three aces, 16 assists, nine digs).

Hortonville 3, New London 0

Hortonville picked up 25-19, 25-23 and 25-17 wins over the Bulldogs.

The Polar Bears will travel to Fond du Lac Thursday, Sept. 8, for a 7 p.m. FVA matchup with the Cardinals. Hortonville will then compete Saturday, Sept. 10, in a tournament in Beaver Dam.
