Nelson, Kenneth

Kenneth W. Nelson, age 94, of Waupaca passed away on Friday, September 9th, 2022 at The Willows in Iola.

He was born in Waupaca on March 28, 1928, a son of the late William and Hilda (Spindt) Nelson. On August 11, 1951, he married Kathleen “Kay” Stevens at the First United Methodist Church in Waupaca and together through the years raised four wonderful children. She preceded him in death on April 9, 2022. He will be dearly missed by all of his loving family and many friends.

Ken had been in the Automotive Industry since 1948, winning numerous sales and service awards, and had owned and operated Nelson’s Sales and Service for many years. He enjoyed golfing and spending winters in Florida. Ken had been a member of the Waupaca Lions Club and was part of the Drivas and Stratton Coffee Clubs.

Kenneth is survived by his four children: Kristine (Gale) Waller, Waupaca, Karen (Dennis) Peterson, Waupaca, Kent Nelson, Waupaca, Kim (Sonya) Nelson, Waupaca; eight grandchildren: Jacob (Meagan) Waller, Waupaca, Sara (special friend Scott Tessen) Wanty, Waupaca, Stacy (Travis) Pire, Neenah, Eric (Jenna) Peterson, Plover, Joseph (Whitney) Nelson, Waupaca, Timothy Nelson, Waupaca, Nathan (Zoey) Nelson, Waupaca, Emily (James) Minton, Waupaca; eleven great-grandchildren; also by other relatives and friends.

Ken was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen “Kay” Nelson, parents William and Hilda Nelson; his parents-in-law, Leonard and Maybelle Stevens; a daughter-in-law Delyse Nelson; and a sister Catherine (Richard) Johnson.

A Funeral Service will be on Thursday, September 15th, 2022 at 1:00 PM at the Holly Funeral Home in Waupaca. Pastor Jeff Fletcher will officiate. A visitation will be held on Thursday from 11 AM until 1 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be at Lakeside Memorial Park in Waupaca following the service on Thursday. The family would like to extend a special “Thank You” to the staff at The Willows in Iola for all of their kind and compassionate care. The Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca is assisting the family with arrangements.
