Schmude, James

James A. Schmude, age 65, of Manawa passed away Monday evening September 19, 2022 at home surrounded by his loving family after a 20-year valiant fight with medical difficulties after having been diagnosed with Blastomycosis.

Jim was born on July 31st, 1957 in Oshkosh before the family settled in New London. He was the fourth born child of twelve of Robert and Patricia Schmude, New London. Jim was a jack of all trades. His most notable jobs were as a farm hand to many local farmers, DHI, a dairy farmer himself while married to Deborah (Guldan) Schmude, and a semi driver. He was an amazing cook and catered many different occasions, his most notable was the EAA.

He is survived by his wife of 17 years Elizabeth (Summerville) Schmude; daughter: Valerie Schmude, Manawa; sons: Robert (Tina) Schmude, New London; Kevin Schmude, Manawa; his grandchildren: Terrin, Aubree, Savannah, Gabrielle, Pierce, and his sixth grandchild is expected in early 2023.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by eleven siblings: John and Mary Schmude, Ava, MO; Steve and Christine Thompson, New London; Don and Colleen DeCoster, Townsend; Mike and Renee Schmude, Ava MO; Pete and Sharon Bartow, Menasha; Wally and Lori Schmude, New London; Sally Pautz, New London; Kathy Poppy, Clintonville; Mary Koski, Iron Belt; Gary and Jenny Schmude, New London; Wayne and Jo Schmude, Pickerel. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends.

Jim was preceded in death by his first wife and high school sweetheart Lorraine (Ferge) Schmude; daughter Debbie Schmude; brothers in-law: Jim Poppy, Kendall Koski, and Bill Pautz.

A visitation for Jim will be held at Victory Church, (E3443 Apple Tree Ln, Waupaca, WI) on Friday September 23rd, 2022 from 4-7pm. His funeral will be at Victory Church on Saturday September 24th, at 11am with Rev. Philip Thompson officiating. A visitation will also be held at the church on Saturday from 9:30 am until 10:45 a.m.
