Gehling, Richard

Richard A. Gehling, age 72 of Clintonville, passed away Friday evening, October 28, 2022 at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center, Appleton.

Richard Arthur Gehling was born July 12, 1950 in Clintonville, WI, son to the late Robert & Dawn (Malkowsky) Gehling. He attended St. Rose Catholic Schools through 8th grade, then Clintonville Public Schools, later graduating with the class of 1969. Richard enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving his country honorably during Vietnam. Like many other soldiers, he suffered from the effects of Agent Orange. After his discharge from the military, Richard returned to Clintonville and worked as an electrician locally. He was united in marriage to Joan Ann (Rightmire) in April of 1996 in Waupaca, WI. In his spare time, he enjoyed traveling and camping, preferred listening to classic rock music over watching the television; but did enjoy NASCAR and the Green Bay Packers. Richard was very passionate about his yard. He kept his garden and flowers well cared for and took pride in how his yard looked. He also really loved working with his hands on woodworking projects. He will be remembered as a soft-spoken man, who enjoyed being social with family and friends, and really loved spending time with his step-grandchildren.

He is survived by his:
Siblings: Sharon (Don) Rogalski, Clintonville; James Gehling, Escanaba, MI; Fred (Rene) Gehling, Madison, SD; David (Robin) Gehling, Clintonville; & Joan Simons, Royalton
A special God-daughter: Jaymie Noack, Iola
Step-Children: Kate Stadtherr, Green Bay; Ann (Lance) Vanden Elzen, Green Bay; Rachael (BJ) Stollberg, Green Bay; & Mark (Arcelia) Stadtherr, San Diego, CA
11 Step-grandchildren
Many nieces, nephew, and other family members

Richard was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Joan; a brother, Bill Gehling; and a brother-in-law Terry Simons.
