Volz, Jean Dorothy

Jean Dorothy Volz, 92, Manitowoc passed away on Monday, October 17, 2022 at Aurora Medical Center in Two Rivers.

Jean was born on November 14, 1929 in Sheboygan to the late John and Beatrice (Bertram) Haupt. Jean is a graduate of Marion High School, she then furthered her education at Outagamie County School of Business. On September 3, 1949 she married Vernon “V.A.” Volz in New London. He preceded her in death on April 19, 2015. Jean was a dedicated and devoted wife and mother. Over the years, Jean worked at Tuttle Press in Appleton, Craft Village in Madison and together, her and V.A. owned and operated Volz Chevrolet in New London. Upon retirement in 1993 they moved to Fairfield Bay, AK, where she volunteered countless hours with the Fairfield Bay Rescue Squad. In 2009 she moved to Aurora, CO to be closer to one of her sons and his family, then moved back to Wisconsin to be closer to the rest of her family in 2021.

Jean was a member of Bethany Ev. Lutheran Church. Over the years while being an active member at Emmanuel Ev. Church in New London and Oregon, she served on the Ladies Aid, altar Guild and sang in the church Choir. Jean was also a member of the Fairfield Bay Garden Club and a 20-year member of the Lioness Club in Wisconsin. Jean enjoyed knitting, quilting, needlework, and gardening.

Jean is survived by her children: Steven (Jean) Volz, Manitowoc, Vicki Christian, Manawa, Chris (Susan) Volz, Tomahawk, and Robin (Dan) Gladdis, FL; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Jean was preceded in death by her parents: John and Beatrice Haupt; and her husband: Vernon “V.A.”: Volz.

A memorial service to celebrate Jean’s life will be held on Saturday, November 5, 2022 at Bethany Ev. Lutheran Church, 3209 Meadow Lane, at 11:00 am with Rev. Robert Kujawski and Rev. Stephen Melso officiating. Relatives and friends may greet the family at the church on Saturday, November 5, 2022 from 10:00 am until the time of service at 11:00 am. Inurnment will take place later in spring at Floral Hill Cemetery in New London.
