Gralapp, Robert R.

Robert “Bob” R. Gralapp, age 85 of New London, was called to heaven the early morning of Saturday, November 19, 2022 while at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center in Appleton.

Bob was born on April 8, 1937 the youngest child to the late Roy and Hulda Gralapp. He was born and raised on the farm in the town of Van Dyne. Bob was proud to say that this farm has been in the Gralapp name for over 150 years. He served his country in the US Army and was stationed in Japan. Bob was united in marriage to Nancy Carlson in 1961. She preceded him in death in 2015. They lived most of their married life in the town of Lebanon. Together they built a life filled with family and friends. Their home was a setting for many holiday gatherings, parties and meaningful conversations. Bob was a hard worker all of his life. He had a successful career as a district sales manager for American Breeders Service. A

fter retirement, Bob and Nancy enjoyed traveling and spending their winter months in Florida. Those who knew Bob will remember him as a strong, proud, talkative man, who enjoyed the company of others. He also was a spiritual man-involved in church activities and volunteering both at United Methodist Church and the First United Church of Christ in New London. Bob enjoyed golfing, gardening, the Packers, bird watching, playing cards, going out to eat and his dog, Ted. His most precious love was his family. He was a proud grandpa, who loved supporting his grandkids at sporting events and school activities. Bob loved time with his family and “lived a full life with no regrets”.

Bob will be sadly missed by his four children, Dale (Lois) Gralapp, Jayne (Joe) Buchinger, Susan (Jeff) Weyenberg and Randy (Chrisy) Gralapp; his grandchildren, Mindy (Calixto), Nathan (Jennifer), Leah, Sara (Rick), Erik, Adam (Hailey), Lauren, Jayce (Nic), Alex, Jessica (Tyler), Elizabeth, Andrew, Abigail and Jacob; great-grandchildren, Analeigha, Marissa, Remington, Lydia, Lucus, Hannah and one on the way.

He will also be missed by his close friend, Joan Schmitt; sisters-in-law, Helen (Dick) Baumhardt and Betty (Don) Schoepke, as well as nieces, nephews and many friends.

Along with his wife Nancy, Bob was preceded in death by his parents; great-grandson, Nicholas and his sisters and brother, Jean (Vic) Rose, Joyce (Bob) Walsted and Richard (Gloria) Gralapp.

A Memorial Service for Robert will be held at First Congregational United Church of Christ in New London on Tuesday, November 22, 2022 at 4:00 p.m. with Rev. Dr. Steve Savides and Rev. Kevin Dembinski officiating. The visitation will be at the church on Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in Friendship Cemetery, town of Van Dyne.

The family would like to express a sincere thank you to Bob’s caregiver, Elizabeth Getlinger and to the staff at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center for their compassionate care.
