Jonely, Alice Marie (Hidde)

Alice Marie (Hidde) Jonely, age 84, of New London, formerly of Weyauwega, passed away on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 at St. Joseph’s Residence in New London after a three-week battle with leukemia.

She was born on June 26, 1938, the youngest of nine kids in the Town of Hortonia to the late Oscar William and Myrtle Edna (Learman) Hidde, and grew up on Murphy’s Quarry. Alice was baptized and confirmed at Emanuel Lutheran Church in New London and attended high school in New London. After high school, she worked at Zwickers in Waupaca.

She met the love of her life, Kenny Jonely, in the milkhouse. She surprised him and Kenny blurred out, “oh you’re so beautiful,” and Alice was hooked. It was said cleaning the milkers were always done. They were married on March 8, 1958 at Emanuel. Kenny proceeded her in death on June 17, 1989. Kenny and Alice, along with Roy and Mamie Jonely, purchased a farm in the town of Weyauwega. When it was just Kenny and Alice, Alice was Kenny’s right-hand man until Kenny’s sickness forced them to sell the farm and move uptown and Alice retired.

She was a devoted member of St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church and Ladies Aid. In 2009, Alice moved to New London. Alice enjoyed traveling with LaVonne all over the states, Alaska, Canada, and the Bahamas. She loved watching TV, especially Wisconsin sports and watching the traffic go by. She spent almost the last three years living with her daughter, Debbie (aka Kubba).

Alice is survived by her daughter, Debbie; sister-in-law, Carol Goodman; and the Hidde Rock gang. She is further survived by many Jonely and Hidde nieces, nephews, cousins and other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenny; her parents, Oscar and Myrtle; brothers, sisters, and in-laws: Victor (Ione) Hidde, Glen (Sarah) Hidde, Dorothy (HL) Raper, Hildeguard (Gordon) Fronczak, Harold “Ike” (Linda) Hidde, Alfred (Viola) Hidde, Melvin (Janice) Hidde, and Carl (LaVonne) Hidde; mother and father-in-law, Roy and Mamie (Prill) Jonely; sister-in-law, Gertrude Sohn; brothers-in-law, Robert Sohn and Donald Goodman; her cats, Nuttin and Honey, and the dog, Lady.

The Christian Funeral service for Alice will be held at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church in Weyauwega on Wednesday, March 22, 2023 at 12:00 pm with Rev. Aaron Kristopeit officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Weyauwega. A visitation will be held at Cline-Hanson-Dahlke Life Celebration Center of Weyauwega on Tuesday, March 21 from 4:00-7:00pm, and also at the church on Wednesday from 10:00am until 11:45am.
