Bulldogs take charge in Bay

Softball team gets three more wins

Bay Conference wins continue to add up for the New London softball team.

The Bulldogs improved to 6-0 in conference play with a pair of recent wins over Menasha and another over Green Bay West/East.

The team also dropped two of three games April 29 at a four-team invitational at Memorial Park.

New London Invitational

New London dropped two of three nonconference games at the four-team invitational, which also included teams from Whitnall, Waupun and Mosinee.

New London 4, Whitnall 0

Eve Hedtke had two of the Bulldogs’ seven hits and drove in a pair of runs, while Savannah Schaff added a pair of RBIs in a shutout win over the Falcons.

Kenna Mix struck out eight batters and gave up two hits over five innings to get the win on the mound.

Waupun 3, New London 0

Winning pitcher Addison Braun held New London to two hits.

The Warriors scored a pair of runs in the third inning and added another in the fourth.

Mosinee 5, New London 2

Jensen Mix had two of New London’s five hits in a loss to the Indians.

New London 3, Menasha 2

The Bulldogs knocked off the Bluejays April 28 for the second time in less than a week.

Menasha took an early lead with a pair of runs in the top of the first inning, but the Bulldogs tied the game in the sixth and came up with the game-winning run in the seventh.

Kenna Mix picked up the win on the mound, struck out 11 batters and also drove in two of the Bulldogs’ runs. Hedtke had two hits, including a solo home run, and Sommer Krull also finished with two hits.

New London 10, Green Bay West/East 0 (5 inn.)

The Bulldogs came up with four runs in the second inning, one in the third and fourth and three in the fifth April 25.

Kenna Mix ended the game with a two-run home run in the bottom of the fifth.

Mix, Ava Baehman and Shelby Glodowski each had two of New London’s 11 hits, while Schaff drove in a team-high three runs.

New London 6, Menasha 1

The Bulldogs opened the week April 24 with a win on the Bluejays’ home field.

Krull had four of New London’s nine hits and scored twice; Hedtke drove in a pair of runs; and Kenna Mix struck out 11 batters while picking up the win on the mound.

The Bulldogs will host Shawano at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, May 4, at Memorial Park before heading to Winneconne Saturday, May 6, for a four-team invitational with Winneconne, Appleton North and Freedom. Games are scheduled to start at 10 a.m.
