Waupaca County sheriff’s report May 13

• May 8 – A Waupaca caller on Ware Street reported that when she returned home from the hospital, she received a call from someone claiming to be with her insurance company asking for her Social Security number.

• May 8 – The Royalton Station in New London reported a gas drive-off valued at $53. The driver tried to pay at the pump but it didn’t work.

• May 8 – A Waupaca man on Melody Lane reported the theft of multiple electronic items.

• May 8 – Dollar General in Fremont reported a shoplifter was back in the store.

• May 8 – Crime Stoppers reported a situation with a neglected dog.

• May 8 – A Clintonville man on State Highway 154 reported his mailbox and garbage cans were damaged.

• May 8 – An anonymous caller requested a welfare check on an elderly woman who said her children were abusing her.

• May 8 – A Waupaca woman on Pryse Road reported that two people were harassing her.

• May 8 – A Bear Creek man on Allterrain Lane reported a woman was trying to harm herself and she told her father she took about 20 pills.

• May 8 – A male caller reported the death of a male cancer patient.

• May 8 – A Waupaca woman in Chicago reported she saw suspicious smoke through her zring camera.

• May 9 – An anonymous caller reported a man who lives on Ware Street was yelling in the yard during the night and was now squealing tires and driving erratically.

• May 9 – An anonymous caller reported the illegal burning of garbage on Otto Road.

• May 9 – A caller reported an electrical line over a white delivery truck. The caller saw sparks.

• May 9 – A Weyauwega man on Sumner Street reported he was cutting a vehicle apart and it started on fire.

• May 9 – A Weyauwega man on Landing Road reported a suspicious gray Chevy truck sitting on the road for an hour. His neighbor’s children were playing outside. The caller walked up to speak with the driver and the driver ignored him. The driver appeared to be talking a video with his phone.

• May 9 – A caller reported her mother contacted her stating she did not feel safe. Five minutes later she left a voice message. She was sobbing and said that a man slammed her head into something.

• May 9 – A New London man on County Trunk N reported the illegal dumping of remodeling materials and bags of garbage.

• May 9 – A Clintonville woman on Torrey Street reported that her sister-in-law called her and left the line open. A male voice said, “You deserve this. This is your fault.” A female screamed, “Stop hitting me.”

• May 10 – An anonymous caller reported a shoeless man who looked confused. It looked like he had blood on him.

• May 10 – An anonymous caller reported a man wearing cargo shorts and a brown shirt was swinging a stick with ribbons on it at passing cars.
• May 10 – A 911 caller reported her car tire was on fire. No one was inside the vehicle.

• May 10 – Covantage Credit Union in Antigo reported a member deposited four separate checks totaling $7,000 via his cell phone. All of the checks were fraudulent and the subject spent all the money.

• May 10 – A 911 caller reported his tractor was on fire in his yard.

• May 10 – A Manawa woman on Sawn Road reported the death of a 90-year-old man

• May 10 – A New London woman on Beacon Avenue reported someone dumped drug paraphernalia on her property.

• May 10 – A male caller requested a welfare check on a man who appeared to be having a seizure in a gray Pontiac.

• May 10 – A female caller reported an air boat trespassing on her and other people’s property.

• May 10 – A Waupaca woman on Oakland Drive reported that a man was beating up a woman for the last two hours. The caller was on the scene, became scared and left.

• May 10 – An Iola woman on John Street reported a fight across the street with two men and one woman. Things were getting thrown around.

• May 11 – A New London caller on State Highway 45 reported an elderly woman was missing. She was seen the day before and has dementia. Her car was still in the driveway.

• May 11 – A Fremont caller on County Trunk HH reported she was being harassed by a man who was threatening to get her fired unless she bought some Bitcoin.

• May 11 – A homeless woman reported feeling suicidal and said she wanted to hurt herself.

• May 11 – A 911 caller reported a two-acre grass fire near the railroad tracks.

• May 11 – A Clintonville caller on Buckbee Road reported a man came after him and whipped him with a cord.

• May 11 – A Scandinavia caller on Elm Valley Road reported a black truck would stop in front of his house and someone would get out. The caller made contact with the driver. The driver stated they were picking asparagus and he flipped off the caller and left.

• May 11 – A Clintonville caller on Willow Road reported her son bought a new vehicle and found a vial with a suspicious substance in it.
• May 11 – An anonymous caller reported that the “carnies were fighting” and were drunk and loud.

• May 11 – A Weyauwega caller on Lincoln Street reported a man came onto his property during the night and broke into one of his vehicles.
• May 11 – East Side Mobil in Waupaca reported a gas drive off valued at $15. The vehicle was a 2020 gray Ford SUV.

• May 11 – A New London caller on Hienke Road reported two German shepherds killed his rooster.

• May 12 – Rawhide Youth Services reported a juvenile with suicidal thoughts that was armed with a metal rod sharpened on one end.

• May 12 – A Manawa caller reported two suspicious guys in the parking lot that looked “like they are on something.”

• May 13 – A Waupaca caller on Crystal Road reported a big marijuana growing operation.

• There were an average number of deer-auto collisions during this period. There were 24 controlled burns called in. A dog bit a Waupaca woman. Three horses were running loose near Bear Lake. A Weyauwega woman found a lost Weimaraner near State Highway 10. Two small dogs were running loose near State Highway 22 and Meadow Lane. An unknown caller reported a bear on their porch.
