Track sectionals set for May 25

The road to the WIAA State Track & Field Championships began May 22 with regional meets in three divisions.
The top four individuals and relay teams in each event will now advance to sectional competitions Thursday, May 25, with the state meet set for Friday and Saturday, June 2-3, at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.
Here’s a rundown of area sectional qualifiers from regionals held in Rosholt, Clintonville, Wautoma, Brillion and Appleton:
Division 3
Rosholt Regional
Manawa edged Newman Catholic by six points to win the girls’ championship at a regional that also included Iola-Scandinavia, Weyauwega-Fremont and eight other teams.
Sectional qualifiers will now head to Marathon May 25.
Manawa’s first-place finishers include Olivia Santos (girls’ shot put and discus); Alivia Trinrud (girls’ long jump); the boys’ 400- and 800-meter relay teams of Thomas Bartelt, Tanner Nienhaus, Justin Buschke and Hunter Schlueter; and the boys’ 1,600-meter relay team of Drake Frasier, Schlueter, Nienhaus and Nathan Gorman.
Also advancing for the Wolves are Abby Elmhorst (second, girls’ 100-meter hurdles and third, 300-meter hurdles); Daisy Krueger (second, girls’ triple jump); Lexi Hedtke (tied for second, girls’ high jump and fourth, girls’ long jump); Gorman (third, boys’ high jump); Bartelt (fourth, boys’ 100-meter dash); Jacob Timm (fourth, boys’ 300 hurdles); Isabella Ferg (fourth, girls’ shot put); Klatt (fourth, girls’ 800-meter run); the girls’ 400 relay team of Klatt, Jolie Jaeger, Brooke Krueger and Rylee Vanden Heuvel (second); and the boys’ 3,200-meter relay team of Ricky Pingel, Brady Jaeckle, Keither Jepson and Frasier (fourth).
Weyauwega-Fremont’s first-place finishers include Isiah Schuh (boys’ pole vault); Brayden Arndt (boys’ 100); and the girls’ 3,200 relay team of Morgan Hansen, Melanie Jentsch, Calla Benjamin and Madison Hansen.
Also advancing for the Warhawks are Cathryn Gunst (tied for second, girls’ high jump); Clay Fee (second, boys’ pole vault); Joslynn Clumpner (second, girls’ 100 dash); Kameron Zielke (third, boys’ 110-meter hurdles); Connor Delwiche (third, boys’ 300 hurdles); Lauren Feltz (third, girls’ 100 hurdles); Madison Hansen (third, girls’ 800 run); Benjamin (third, girls’ 1,600-meter run); Bethany Magdanz (fourth, girls’ 100 hurdles); Jentsch (fourth, girls’ 3,200-meter run); Olivia Sedlar (fourth, girls’ pole vault); the boys’ 400 relay team of Zielke, Ethan Lamoureux, Hunter Meisenhelder and Arndt (second); the girls’ 400 relay team of Raegan Farkas, Sedlar, Magdanz and Clumpner (third); the girls’ 800 relay team of Feltz, Gunst, Clumpner and Madison Hansen (fourth); and the boys’ 800 relay team of Sawyer Kons, Lamoureux, Zielke and Arndt (fourth).
Iola-Scandinavia’s first-place finishers include Charlie Vater (boys’ 3,200); and the boys’ 3,200 relay team of Benjamin Beck, Will Meier, Jacob Lashua and Vater.
Also advancing for the Thunderbirds are Jensen Rice (second, boys’ 110 hurdles, second, 100 dash); Vater (second, boys’ 1,600); Weston Knorr (second, boys’ shot put); Ian Koss (second, boys’ long jump, third, 400-meter dash, third, 200, fourth, triple jump); and the boys’ 400 relay team of Izyck Olson, Ryan Kampert, Burkley Myers and Rice (third).
Division 2
Clintonville Regional
Clintonville’s Lauren Zwirschitz won the girls’ 100 hurdles event, while Sam Wegener placed first in the boys’ long jump and Trystan Krueger won the boys’ 400.

Molly Martens won the girls’ triple jump event for Waupaca, while Jack Barbeau won the 100- and 400-meter wheelchair dash.
