Heger, Mary

Mary R. (nee: Karski) Heger, age 69, of Waupaca, passed away peacefully under hospice care at Manawa Community Nursing Home in Manawa.

She was born August 11, 1953 in Milwaukee, WI; daughter of Robert Sr. and Audrey (Remberg) Karski. Mary graduated from Waupaca High School in 1971 and went on to attend one year of college at UW-LaCrosse. She was an excellent seamstress and caregiver to those in need. Mary loved animals and she spent many years working as a veterinary tech taking care of those animals. She enjoyed fishing, gardening, and being outdoors by the water. We will miss her love, strong spirit, and quick wit. Mary had a strong faith believing in Jesus as her Savior. She will be dearly missed by her family, cousins, and many friends.

Mary is survived by her three siblings: Jan (Patrick) Mahoney of Waupaca, Robert Jr. (Kimberly) Karski of Ogdensburg, and Jean (Michael) Degen of Scandinavia; two nieces Erin (Nate) Smith and Lexie (Mathias Hansen) Karski; three nephews John (Nicole) Degen, Jake Karski, and Jesse Karski; two great nephews Emmon Smith and Everett Degen; and by her dear friend Cathy Thompson, who was not only the best friend a person could have, but who also took care of Mary in her declining health.
She was preceded in death by her parents Robert Sr. and Audrey Karski, and by two very special men Gordy Heger and Chuck Abhold Sr.

Per Mary’s wishes, no services will be held. The Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca is assisting the family with arrangements.
