Superintendent Troy Kuhn told the Clintonville School Board at its July 24 meeting that the district is working towards creating a 5K cross country course on school property around Clintonville High School.

Creating such a course has been talked about at previous school board meetings, with the board in favor of the idea.

“The land we acquired behind the school, we can hold a true 5K cross country event without having people to run the same laps at the same times,” Kuhn told the board.

Kuhn said he’s working with a couple of people about dragging and leveling the potential course.

“The exciting thing is, we can make it happen,” Kuhn said.

He added that Athletic Director Shaun Liesch is already putting things together in an effort to finalize the course so future 5K cross country events can be held in Clintonville.

Board member Glen Drew Lundt asked if the course would be permanent course so that it can be used year-round by anybody.

“We would love for that to happen,” Kuhn said.

Kuhn said the current plan is to till up the potential course, drag it and make sure all the stones are removed. Then compact the soil with a roller to make the course flat.

“That’s our goal right now,” Kuhn said.
