Village raising funds

The first part of the fencing is in place, with the remainder to go up shortly as the Iola Dog Park nears completion.

Rick Meyers, who has spearheaded the project, said the park is a good addition to the community.

“A lot of people with dogs don’t have the room for their dogs to run,” he said. “We are currently ordering obstacles for both sides of the park and it may also need to be reseeded due to lack of rain,”

A calendar raffle is currently taking place to help raise additional funds for the park. Tickets can be purchased at the Iola Village Library, area businesses or by emailing Meyers at [email protected].

Monetary donations are also still being accepted. Sponsorship levels include Big Bone ($500 and up); Medium Bone ($100 to $499); and Small Bone: ($25 to $99).

Checks should be made out to Village of Iola Dog Park and donations can be mailed to Village of Iola, P.O. Box 336, Iola, WI 54945 or dropped off at the village clerk’s Office or the library at 180 S. Main St.

Names of donors will be placed on a sign at the park.

No opening date for the dog park has been announced, which is located at the corner of West Iola Street and South Townline Road.
