Teams to kick off 2023 season

The season for seven area high school football teams will get underway Friday, Aug. 18, with nonconference matchups.

Weyauwega-Fremont and Hortonville will open the season at home, while Clintonville, Iola-Scandinavia, Manawa, New London and Waupaca will be on the road.

Weyauwega-Fremont will host Belleville and Hortonville will host West De Pere.

In other games scheduled for Aug. 18, Clintonville will head to Amherst, Iola-Scandinavia will travel to Shiocton, Manawa will face Chetek-Weyerhaeuser in Chetek, New London will face Denmark and Waupaca will be in Freedom.

Manawa’s game is scheduled to start at 6 p.m., while the six other games will begin at 7 p.m.
