SWAT raids Waupaca home

Police find overdose victim

Waupaca police responded to a report that two people had overdosed at a home on Ware Street at 2:45 p.m. Friday, Aug. 11.

While the officers were arriving at the scene, they were advised that a person inside the house had a gun and possible discharged it. They later determined that no shots were fired, according to a press release from Waupaca Police Chief Brian Hoelzel.

One of the people who had reportedly overdosed came out of the house after verbal commands.

Waupaca County SWAT made entry into the house and found the other individual who was unconscious but breathing.

Narcan was administered and the individual was transported to Waupaca ThedaCare for further observation.

The suspect who allegedly pointed the gun was not at the scene.

Police took the suspect into custody at a different location at approximately 5:15 p,m,

The Waupaca Police Department was assisted by the Waupaca County Sheriff’s Office, Wisconsin State Patrol, Waupaca County SWAT and Gold Cross Ambulance.

There is no danger to the public.
