Iola native plays in loss to Lions

By Greg Seubert

The Green Bay Packers have added Iola native Kristian Welch to the team’s active roster.

The Packers made the move Sept. 28 hours before a 34-20 loss to the Detroit Lions at Lambeau Field.

Welch joined the Packers’ practice squad in early September after spending his first three seasons in the NFL with the Baltimore Ravens.

He appeared in 43 games with the Ravens, including 10 games in 2020, 16 in 2021 and 17 in 2022.

Welch made his debut with the Packers Sept. 28 on special teams and was added to the roster after the Packers placed offensive tackle David Bakhtiari on injured reserve.
