Blaze happened in Royalton
Firefighters removed an elderly man from a house fire in the town Royalton shortly after 2:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 18.
When they arrived firefighters found the basement of the home on Waukaunaka Street filled with smoke.
They broke a window to enter the basement, found an unconscious elderly man. and pulled him out.
He was transported to ThedaCare in Waupaca, where he is reported to have died from smoke inhalation.
The victim’s name has not been released..
