Sue Ann (Leeman) Kempfert age 77 of Waupaca, passed away peacefully on January 1, 2024 as the result of brain cancer.
Sue was born in Appleton, WI on December 14, 1946 to Margaret (Boodry) and Royal “Bud” Leeman and was baptized into Christ on January 13, 1947 by Rev. Louis Mielke. Sue graduated from the Bellin Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in August 1968. She married Richard Kempfert on September 7, 1968 at First Lutheran Church in Shiocton and they settled in Waupaca, WI in 1972. There they raised three children. Sue practiced nursing throughout her life and was an active volunteer in her church and greater community. Sue was a good and faithful servant whose capacity for love was boundless.
Sue is survived by her husband Richard of Waupaca; her daughter Kaydee (Joe) Ruppert of Appleton and son Joel (Patti) Kempfert of Waupaca; grandchildren Bethany and Aaron Ruppert of Appleton; her sister Sara Duda of Seymour. Sue was preceded in death by her parents, Bud and Margaret Leeman, and her son James Kempfert.
A funeral service was held on Thursday January 4, 2024 at 5:30 P.M. at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church. A visitation was held on Thursday January 4, 2024 from 2:30 P.M. until the time of the service at 5:30 P.M. at the church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to New Beginnings. The Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca, WI is assisting the family with arrangements.
