A local family’s third generation of attorneys has joined the Board of Directors at Farmers State Bank in Waupaca.

This year, Tom Hart is replacing his father John Hart, who has served on the board since 1992.

John’s father, Ed Hart, served on the board from 1938 to 1992.

The Hart law firm dates back to 1898 and was located on the second floor of the old First National Bank building, located at the corner of Union and Main streets.

“Directors oversee the day-to-day management of the bank,” according to John Hart.

He also provides the bank with legal advice, reviews loan documents and agreements.

Hart law office has also done foreclosures and collections for the bank.

Tom Hart started with the law firm in 2002, worked as Waupaca’s city attorney in 2019-20 and as the city’s prosecutor until this January.

John Hart was city attorney from 2003 to 2019. He has since retired.

Laine Lazers, president of Farmers State Bank, said he appreciates John Hart’s years of service with the bank’s board of directors and looks forward to working with Tom Hart.
