New London to host wrestling regional

W-F heading south for postseason

Three area wrestling teams won’t have far to travel for their upcoming WIAA regional meet, while another is heading in a different direction for the first time in years.

Regional meets are scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 10, while sectionals will be held Saturday, Feb. 17.

Division 3

Weyauwega-Fremont and Manawa will head to Division 3 regionals in Poynette and Crandon, respectively.

Instead of heading north, Weyauwega-Fremont will head to the Poynette Regional, which also includes Almond-Bancroft/Pacelli, Laconia, Lomira, Markesan, Montello, Oakfield, Omro, Pardeeville, Poynette, Princeton/Green Lake, Tri-County and Westfield.

Besides Manawa, the Crandon Regional also includes Bonduel, Coleman, Crandon, Elcho, Florence, Lena, Oconto, Oneida Nation, Rosholt, Shiocton, Suring/Gillett and Wabeno/Laona/Three Lakes.

Sectional qualifiers out of Poynette will advance to a sectional at Dodgeland High School in Juneau, while sectional qualifiers out of the Crandon meet will compete at the Bonduel Sectional at Shawano High School.

Division 2

New London will host a Division 2 regional that also includes Clintonville and Waupaca. Other teams heading to New London are Amherst, Antigo, Crivitz/Wausaukee, Freedom, Marinette, Menominee Indian, Oconto Falls, Peshtigo, Seymour and Wittenberg-Birnamwood.

Sectional qualifiers will advance to a sectional at Luxemburg-Casco High School.

Division 1

Hortonville will face Appleton East, Appleton North, Appleton West, Kaukauna, Kimberly, Menasha and Neenah at a regional meet in Kaukauna.

Sectional qualifiers will advance to a sectional meet in Kimberly.

The WIAA Individual Boys’ and Girls’ State Individual Tournament is scheduled for Thursday to Saturday, Feb. 22-24, at the Kohl Center in Madison.
