Weasner, James A.

We are saddened to share that James “Jim” A. Weasner passed away on Monday, January 29, 2024

at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King at the age of 79.

Jim was born June 18, 1944 in Indianapolis, Indiana; son of John and Julia (Hungerford) Weasner. On December 11, 1981, he married Mary (Byrd) Nicholas-Krizan in Waupaca and together they shared 28 years of marriage before her passing on July 16, 2010.

Jim was a devoted member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses of Waupaca. He served in the U.S. Army and took great pride in his service to his country. In his younger years, he was an avid pool player and bowler. Jim served as a volunteer fireman for the St. Lawrence/Ogdensburg Fire Department for a number of years. He enjoyed the outdoors through hunting, fishing and snowmobiling. In his later years, he worked and retired from the Waupaca Foundry. Yet, Jim was a farmer at heart, both beef cattle and dairy, and he loved his time on his farm in Ogdensburg.

James is survived by his three siblings Jackie (Terri) Weasner, Jeffrey (Nancy) Weasner, and Judith (Leo) Hopfensperger; two step-daughters Melanie Johnson and Rachel (Al) Knapstein; step-grandchildren Brianna (Shae) Coyle, Kaleigh (Jeremy Chapman) Johnson, and Jaidyn Johnson; step-great-grandchildren Brayden and Brockton Coyle and Karter Chapman; a sister-in-law Patricia Weasner; his dear friend Harry Fredrickson; and also by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents John and Julia Weasner; his wife Mary Weasner; step-grandson Tazmin Wrolstad; a brother Jerry Weasner; a brother-in-law Terry Fietzer; and a nephew Mark Weasner.

A Memorial Service for Jim will be on Saturday, February 3, 2024 at 2:30 PM at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, E3273 Apple Tree Lane, Waupaca, WI. A visitation will be held on Saturday from 12:30 – 2:30 PM at the Kingdom Hall. Burial will take place this spring at Big Falls Cemetery where full military honors will be performed. The Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca is assisting the family with arrangements.
