Hagen, Phillip G.

Phillip G. Hagen, age 74, of Waupaca, WI, formerly of Verona, WI, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 4, 2024,

under hospice care at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King.

He was born February 10, 1949, in Verona, WI; the son of Arthur and Nona (Way) Hagen. Phil honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy, retiring after 20 years in service. On April 14, 1972, he married Linda C. Crosser in Shawnee, OK and together they shared 36 years of marriage before her passing on January 8, 2009. Phil will be dearly missed by all of his loving family and friends.

Phil was a proud member of the American Legion who considered his trip on the Old Glory Honor Flight to be one of the many highlights of his life. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, and fixing just about anything. He was a lover of Wisconsin sports who enjoyed watching the Packers, Badgers, and Brewers. Phil was a master at thrifting and always happy to find a good deal. He took great pleasure in his job as the family lefse maker and jokester, always looking for ways to make others smile. Above all else, he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was as considerate and generous as they come, always protecting his loved ones and showing his emotions through action. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, strong will, caring, helpful nature, and all-around loving personality.

Phil is lovingly remembered by his two children Jackilee (Gary) Tester of Waupaca, WI, and Michael (Samantha) Hagen of Yonkers, NY; grandchildren Ryan Severin, Sophia Severin, Conner Hagen, and Kenzie Hagen; five siblings Dale (Audrey) Hagen of Verona, WI, Howard Hagen of Waupaca, WI, Susan Wesche of Bellow Falls, VT, Julie (Patrick) Hagen-Coenen of Waupaca, WI, and Marilee Hanson (Dave) of Quartzsite, AZ; and also by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Nona Hagen; an infant sister Linda Hagen; grandson Alexander (Fuzz) Severin; and his wife Linda Hagen.

Phil’s family would like to thank the staff at the Veterans Home and ThedaCare Hospice for the excellent care he received.

A visitation will be held for Phillip on Thursday, February 15, 2024 at the Holly Funeral Home in Waupaca, WI from 10:00AM-12:00PM. A Memorial Service for Phillip will follow the visitation at 12:00PM on Thursday, February 15, 2024. Burial will take place at a later date at the Central WI Veterans Memorial Cemetery in King. In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation may be made to The Old Glory Flight or the American Legion Post #161 – King, WI. The Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca is assisting the family with arrangements.
