McDaniel, Mark

It’s with a heavy heart that we announce that our brother Mark McDaniel passed on Friday, February 9th, 2024

following a series of health issues that accumulated in a stroke that he could not recover from.

Mark was born March 12th, 1953 to Dick and Jean McDaniel, the third of eight children. Being a part of a big family brought him much joy in life. He always cherished the time he spent with family.

Mark graduated from Waupaca High School where he played football, was in a high school musical and worked at the Pizza Parlor & Pizza Place. As an adult he enjoyed hunting, bowling, golfing and continued with his most loved passion for fishing. His love for fishing began as a young boy fishing on the Wolf River. Mark was a fisherman at heart and enjoyed many locations on the Turtle-Flambeau Flowage, Lake Michigan, Lake Erie, North Dakota and Minnesota. Mark’s favorite fishing memories came from his many fishing trips to Canada shared with family and friends.

Mark started a long career at the Foundry where he enjoyed work and made many life-long friends.

Mark was a generous spirit. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and sharing the love he had for various sports or activities. Mark enjoyed the music he grew up with and took many of his siblings to their first concert or bought them their first album. He was a huge Packer fan. He held season tickets and one year took several of his nephews to their first Packer Game.

Later in retirement years, Mark and Steve wintered in Arizona exploring the west, playing cards and dominos where they met many lifelong friends.

Mark always looked forward to spending time with family and playing cards, including Sheepshead and Cribbage. He enjoyed cooking and was always excited to bring a new recipe to a get together. As his faith grew, he spent many hours reading the Bible, Daily Readings, or listening to Christian Podcasts. As a way of giving back Mark donated his time to Meals on Wheels of Waupaca.

Mark is survived by loving family and friends who will miss him dearly including siblings their spouses and extended family. We find comfort knowing that Mark has journeyed to the Promised Land and will be reunited with Family, Mark has added his chair to the card table with Mom, Dad, Mike and Steve.
