Bacon, Roger R.

Roger R. Bacon passed away suddenly, February 22, 2024, at his home in the Town of Amherst at the age of 71.

Roger was born in Waupaca on March 11, 1952, to Lucy and Donald Bacon. He was preceded in death by his parents and older sister Donna LaVoy. He is survived by brothers, Daniel and wife Holly, of Amherst, John and wife Marina of Amherst, sisters Connie Onan and husband Michael of Plymouth MN, Alice Kolb and husband Steven, of DePere, and Linda Jenner and husband Tom, of Scandinavia. He was the “Greatest Uncle” to numerous nieces and nephews along with their families.

Roger lived most of his life in Amherst. He first attended the Pipe one room school and then the Tomorrow River Schools, where he graduated. After attending college at River Falls University, he came back to the farm to work with his dad and brothers. After his father retired in 1994, the three brothers formed a partnership, the “Bacon Farms – Amherst”, each bringing their own strengths and responsibilities. Roger was proud and content to dedicate his life to farming, alongside Dan and John. He was active on the Tomorrow Valley Coop Board, the Town of Amherst as a supervisor, the Amherst Fire District Board, and the Farm Service Agency.

Roger had an easy smile and conversation for all. He made friends easily and had a kind word for whoever he met. As a lifelong bachelor he found the best restaurants and made friends with their staff. He was especially happy if brother/best friend John could go with him for breakfast.

There will be a gathering of family and friends on Saturday, March 16, 2024, from 1 to 3pm at Maple Crest Funeral Home, N2620 HWY-22, in Waupaca, WI.
