Waupaca County sheriff’s report Feb. 24

  • Feb. 16 – An Iola man on Wasrud Road reported a house fire. Everyone escaped outside.
  • Feb. 16 – An unknown caller reported a death on Red Banks Road in Fremont.
  • Feb. 17 – A Fremont woman on State Highway 96 reported she heard knocking on her door. She went outside and noticed footprints. She let her dogs out and they started barking. She thought a person might still be lurking around.
  • Feb. 17 – A Clintonville woman on Lakeshore Road reported requested a welfare check on her suicidal husband. They were separating.
  • Feb. 17 – An Embarrass woman on Riverview Lane reported a man in the basement was trying to drink himself to death. He was text messaging other family members in a way that was uncharacteristic of him.
  • Feb. 17 – A Wild Rose man on Springwater Road reported a suspicious gray Honda Civic with low-profile rims and tires was driving up and down a dead-end road, about 15 times in the previous hour.
  • Feb. 17 – A Stevens Point woman reported someone with a handheld radio was broadcasting into her Bluetooth ear piece and it was too loud. A woman admitted she was doing this to the caller.
  • Feb. 17 – Outagamie County Sheriff’s Office requested assistance with a white Chevy Impala departing a Pick-n-Save whose driver attempted to steal $800 worth of merchandise.
  • Feb. 17 – A New London caller on Beckert Road reported observing via camera a suspicious man who was walking around her family’s property.
  • Feb. 17 – The Wisconsin Veterans Home in King reported a male resident was smoking in his room and refused to hand over his cigarettes.
  • Feb. 18 – A New London woman on Zirbel Road reported a juvenile was receiving harassing text messages on Snapchat.
  • Feb. 20 – ThedaCare reported a male called their hotline and told the nurse he would be better off dead.
  • Feb. 21 – Happy Daaze Bar and Grill in Scandinavia reported a customer was refusing to leave the bar.
  • Feb. 21 – A Weyauwega mcalleran on Butternut Ridge reported a suspicious vehicle at the end of his driveway and a unknown man was walking around.
  • Feb. 21 – A Waupaca caller on Draeger Road reported a man tried to convince her to give him her mail. She did not give it to him. The man was from another house on Draeger Road and the caller referred to it as a “drug house.”
  • Feb. 21 – A Fremont woman on Waupaca Street reported a man would not open his door and could not be reached by phone. The man was later discovered dead.
  • Feb. 21 – A New London caller on Larry Road reported unauthorized transactions on two of her debit cards.
  • Feb. 21 – A Readfield caller on County Trunk W requested a welfare check on her son who was howling and tossing things around.
  • Feb. 21 – Fleet Farm in Waupaca reported a female with a big brown bag was shoplifting.
  • Feb. 21 – An anonymous caller reported receiving a text message from a juvenile: “I can’t do this anymore. Know that you helped me more than anyone else. I need to make this all stop.”
  • Feb. 22 – A Scandinavia caller on State Highway 49 reported an injured owl in his yard.
  • Feb. 22 – A New London caller on Oakwood Lane reported she barricaded herself into a room and a man was trying to get in.
  • Feb. 22 – A Waupaca man reported getting a suspicious call from a number where they stated he wrote a worthless check in 2018. They were not trying to collect money but to serve him a summons paper.
  • Feb. 22 – An Embarrass man on Main Street reported another man was trespassing on his property.
  • Feb. 22 – A Waupaca woman on Franklin Street reported her vehicle was broken into while she was in Ogdensburg.
  • Feb. 22 – An unknown caller reported she was talking to the FTC for the past two days. They were talking to her about money laundering and that she should deposit money into Bitcoin.
  • Feb. 22 – An unknown caller reported a juvenile was threatening to kill his family with a shotgun. The juvenile was in the house with the mother and other children.
  • Feb. 22 – A 911 caller reported an unconscious man on the ground in a parking lot between two vehicles.
  • Feb. 22- The Waupaca Foundry reported a man driving a black Kia. They believed him to be intoxicated as he had bloodshot eyes and was slurring his words.
  • Feb. 23 – A Manawa woman on Fourth Street reported a man slumped over in the driver’s seat of a blue car with Illinois plates.
  • Feb. 23 – Assured Recovery reported they would be repossessing a 2014 Ford F150.
  • Feb. 23 – Rawhide Youth Services reported a juvenile kicked in a front door.
  • Feb. 23 – Female caller reported she donated a van to Rawhide. The vehicle was parted out and no longer exists. Now she has a letter from the Illinois tollway stating that she owes them money.
  • Feb. 23 – An unknown caller reported he tried to speak to a man about a “dating history issue with a female” and the man pulled a gun on him.
  • Feb. 23 – A Waupaca man on Stone Ridge Road reported he did not feel like himself and felt out of place.
  • Feb. 24 – A female caller reported people were hacking her phone and email accounts and driving by and yelling at her.
  • Feb. 24 – A New London caller on Beckert Road reported a man sent her a picture of a gun to his head. They had been arguing over the phone all day and he had not been taking his medications.
  • Feb. 24 – A Waupaca caller on Royalton Street reported someone smashed his fence and cut his camera off his house.
  • Feb. 24 – A Marion man on County Trunk C reported a suspicious silver Chevy truck at his house that should not be there. He had a trail camera photo of it.
  • Feb. 24 – Angler’s Bar and Grill in Fremont reported a man broke into the bar and damaged the door.
  • Feb. 24 – An Ogdensburg woman on Blue Mountain Road requested an ambulance for a man who fell down and was bleeding from the mouth and head.
  • Feb. 24 – A 911 caller reported a person broke through the ice with an ATV.
  • There were few deer-auto collisions during this period. Nine controlled burns were called in. Two brush fires were reported. Waupaca ThedaCare reported a woman was bitten by her own dog.
