Burke, Patrick A.

Patrick A. Burke, age 82, of Weyauwega, passed away March 11, 2024, surrounded by his family.

He was born on July 10, 1941 in Racine, WI, the son of the lateAllen and Elizabeth Burke.

Following high school, Pat enlisted in the US Navy where he served from 1960-1964.

On October 15, 1966, Pat married Marilynn Gunsten in Waupaca. She preceded him in death on November 20, 2001

Pat was a familiar face in the area and acquired the nickname “Stoney” while working as the meter reader and service tech for (Wisconsin Electric) WE Energies for over 40 years.

He volunteered his time for over 20 years on the Weyauwega Fire Department and also enjoyed volunteering his time at EAAwith the Warbirds for over 20 years.. He also enjoyed spending time hunting and fishing, both here in Wisconsin and in Canada.

Pat is survived by his son, Greg (Myra)Burke, Weyauwega; his daughter, Michelle Burke, Appleton; four grandchildren, Cathy (Kevin) Thomson and their children Mason and Addison; Joe (Heather) Janssen, and their children, Kaitlyn and Ethan; Bill (Jenny) Janssen, and their children, Mason, Silas and Paige; and David Janssen; two sisters-in-laws, Estelle (Mike) Ryan and Sandy (Gary) Hecker; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marilynn; a brother, George Hansen, a sister, Maxine Florance, his father and mother-in-law, Gordon and Rose Gunsten; a sister-in-law, Delores(Donald) Fredrickson, and a niece, Delyse Nelson.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2024 at 11:00 am at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 312 W. Main St., Weyauwega. Rev. Aaron Kristopeit will officiate. Burial with full military rites will be in Farmington Lutheran Cemetery in Waupaca. Visitation will be held at St. Peter Lutheran Church on Saturday, from 9:00 am until the time of service.
