Brennenstuhl, David Thomas

David Thomas Brennenstuhl of Plymouth, WI, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2024

at Aurora Medical Center in Sheboygan, WI. That day he was welcomed home by his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

David was born on September 19, 1943, in Minneapolis, MN, to the late Florence (Ladendorf) and George II Brennenstuhl. He attended the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee.

David’s primary profession was as a computer project manager for G.T.E. Data Services in California and Indiana. But his real passion was for reading, travel, piloting small planes and seeing exotic animals. David had a kind and generous nature. He was a member of MENSA.

Retiring at 55, he traveled the world with his first wife Donna (Feay) and his son Daniel until his wife’s death in 2008. Unique experiences marked his life. He drove a library bookmobile, played tuba in various municipal bands, ran a zoo mobile for the Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo and hosted a classical all-night radio program at UWM. He enjoyed hiking in Bavaria, camping in the snowy California mountains and sailing in the Pacific.

Although his life was not without hardships, it has been said that hardships often prepare ordinary people for amazing destinies… as it did David. “How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God!” – 1 John 3:1
In 2011, David and Kristin (Petersen) Chase of Lake Geneva, WI, a former college friend from 40 years earlier, re-met on a camping trip. In 2012, they were married in Fort Wayne, IN. Later that year they settled in Plymouth, WI. They spent their time between Plymouth and Door County during his remaining years. It was during that time that David grew strong in his Christian faith and his personal relationship with Jesus.

David is survived by his wife Kristin, son Daniel of Fort Wayne, IN, step-son Andrew Chase of Sister Bay, WI, sister Terry (Tim) Taylor of Minneapolis, MN, and brother George Brennenstuhl III of Taylor, MI. He is further survived by numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Donna, sister Virginia Willis, and his brother John.

A memorial service for David will be held this May in New London, WI.
