Man charged with felony intimidation

Domestic abuse suspect held on $2,500 cash bond

David S. Balthazor, 53, Clintonville is charged with felony intimidation of a victim, disorderly conduct as an act of domestic abuse, felony possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

At 9:40 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1, Waupaca County Deputies Curtis Much and Sara Besel were dispatched to Balthazor’s home on State Highway 156 in the town of Matteson.

A 911 caller said her father came home drunk, drove into her brother’s pickup truck, then began threatening the family.

According to the criminal complaint, she said her parents were in their bedroom.

As the deputies were enroute, the girl put her sister on the phone. She said Balthazor told their mother he was going to kill them all.

Dispatch also asked Clintonville police to respond since they were closer.

Clintonville Police Officers Craig Kamke and Christopher Wendorf were the first to arrive.

They were escorting Balthazor out of the house when the deputies arrived.

Balthazor’s wife reportedly told the deputies that he came home drunk, came into the bedroom, began yelling at her and calling her names.

Balthazor allegedly threatened to kill everyone in the house, including himself.

His wife told the officers that Balthazor has not been the same since he was involved in a serious accident in June.

When questioned by police, Balthazor denied that anything had happened.

He reportedly said he struck his stepson’s vehicle due to the slippery mud in the yard.

“David stated that nothing had happened between him and any family member and that he just wanted to go back to bed,” Besel reported in the complaint. “It should be noted that David appeared very intoxicated.”

A preliminary breath test when Balthazor was booked into the jail indicated he had a .157 blood-alcohol content.

Prior incidents

Balthazor has been charged as a repeat offender.

On Feb. 24, 2014, Balthazor was convicted of two misdemeanors from two separate incidents.

He was convicted disorderly conduct with a dangerous weapon and disorderly conduct, both as acts of domestic abuse.

Balthazor is currently in custody on a $2,500 cash bond.

He faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted of intimidation of a victim.
