Suspect charged with battery

Manawa man accused of hitting roommate with pipe

Donald L. Petersen, 46, Manawa, is charged with substantial battery.

On Aug. 19, Waupaca County Deputy Clint Schroeder was dispatched to a home on Symco Road in the town of Union.

Schroeder spoke to a man who said his roommate, Petersen, hit him in the head with a metal pipe.

According to the criminal complaint, the victim was arguing with a third roommate when he made a comment about meth teeth.

The other roommate was holding a metal pipe.

Petersen allegedly grabbed the pipe and hit the victim in the head.

The other roommate told investigators the victim was disrespectful to his girlfriend.

Both the other roommate and his girlfriend told Deputy Justin Malueg the alleged victim punched Petersen in the face, twice.

Schroeder reported he did not observe any marks on Peterson’s face.

He did observe a 4-inch gash on the victim’s forehead that required stitches.

Petersen was released from custody on a $1,000 signature bond.
