Lipke, Verona

On February 9, 2021, Verona lost her battle with cancer.

Verona was born and raised on the farm in West Bloomfield to the late Rueben and Lenora (Kempf) Hannemann. On September 2, 1950 Verona married LaVerne Lipke. They were happily married for 70 years, until the recent passing of LaVerne this January. Together they worked side by side on the farm they owned, and raised seven children. They retired in 1990 and spent their golden years traveling as well as working together on wood projects and maintaining their garden. Verona was a hard working woman. She was the epitome of “first one up, last one down.” She had a natural green thumb and loved maintaining her garden. Raised during the depression, she utilized food to the fullest and canned food up until the summer of 2020. Verona enjoyed playing cards, putting puzzles together and sewing, especially quilting. Active over the years in Homemakers, card club, ladies aid, American Legion Auxiliary and volunteering at the Second Time Around Shop.

She will be sadly missed by her children: Ramona (Kris) Hrebik, Pamela (Gary) Abel, Dale (Joanne) Lipke, Donna (Bill) DeClerc, Kevin (Melissa) Lipke, Karen (Craig) Pettit, Judy (Jim) Nystrom, 17 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, brother, LaVerne (Janelle) Hannemann; other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, LaVerne; brothers, Orville, Wilmer, Duane and sister, Janice.

The Funeral Service will be on Friday, February 12, 2021 at 1:30 p.m. at Christ Lutheran Church in West Bloomfield. The visitation will be on Friday at the church from 12 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in Concordia Cemetery. Maple Crest Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. The family would like to thank Thedacare Hospice and Dr. Butkiewicz for their care and concern.
