Hortonville bridge needs repair

County recommends engineering study

Hortonville Public Works Director Carl McCrary told the village at an Aug. 5 meeting, that the South Mill Street bridge would require an engineering study before it could be placed on a list for repair or replacement.

McCrary reported that the bridge has multiple cracks with efflorescence through its structure.

McCrary said Outagamie County Highway Commissioner Dean Steingraber has approached the village about having an engineering study performed on the bridge because there may be funding available for replacing or repair of the structure.

The village would be responsible for paying for the engineering study estimated at around $4,250, but McCrary said the village could benefit from significant funding for the replacement or repairs in doing so.

The engineering bridge rehab report will be sent to the Bureau of Structures to ensure it is included in the state’s review process for future projects.
