Long, Jean I.

Jean I. Long, age 88 of Clintonville, passed away on Saturday, September 11, 2021 at Greentree Health & Rehabilitation Center, Clintonville.

Jean Ida Long was born July 6, 1933 in the Township of Herman, Shawano County, daughter to the late Herman and Ella (Moesch) Dey. Jean graduated from Bowler High School with the class of 1952 and later started working at Wisconsin Tissue Mills in 1956. She was united in marriage to Verne Long on May 2, 1970 in Neenah, WI. Jean was a faithful member of Zion Lutheran Church, Embarrass, where she served with the Ladies Aid, Altar Guild, and Friendly Aides. She would also help out during funerals and soup dinners. Jean retired in 1993 after over 37 years of employment, and moved to the Cloverleaf Lake area. Verne preceded her in death on December 1, 2008. She enjoyed fishing and hunting as well as watching the wild turkey, squirrels, chipmunks, rabbits, deer, and bear on their one acre lot. She frequently enjoyed dog-sitting for others and really loved their own dog, Boots, who they had for many years. Jean also really enjoyed time spent with friends and family over the years.

Jean is survived by her twin sister, Janet Carlson, Neenah; sisters, Carol Geiger, Antigo and Sharon (Eugene) Boelter, Neenah; special friends: Norm and Shirley Block, Jerry and Diane Wetzel, and Cheryl Klapste; special canine companion, Angelo; and many other friends and family. Jean was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Verne; brothers, Donald and Darwin Dey; a niece, Linda Carlson; a nephew, Dale Dey; and good friend, Ethel Koeller.

Funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Thursday, September 16, 2021 at Zion Lutheran Church, Embarrass with the Rev. Todd Jerabek officiating. Interment will take place at Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Embarrass. Visitation will take place Thursday at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of service.
