Waupaca teams to open at home

The road to state begins Tuesday, Oct. 19, for area volleyball and boys’ soccer teams.
The WIAA has released brackets for the state girls’ volleyball and boys’ soccer tournaments.
Here’s a rundown of where and when area teams will open tournament play:
Volleyball
Division 1
Kaukauna Sectional: Hortonville received a No. 4 seed and will host No. 13 Ashwaubenon at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 21.
Division 2
Luxemburg-Casco Sectional: No. 4 Waupaca will host No. 13 Clintonville at 7 p.m. Oct. 19, while No. 12 New London will head to Tomahawk to face the fifth-seeded Hatchets.
Division 3
Amherst Sectional: No. 7 Weyauwega-Fremont will host No. 10 Coleman, No. 12 Iola-Scandinavia will head to Neenah to face No. 5 St. Mary Catholic and No. 9 Menasha will travel to No. 8 Shiocton. All matches will start at 7 p.m.
Boys’ Soccer
Division 1
Marshfield Sectional: No. 6 Hortonville will head to Wisconsin Rapids to face the third-seeded Red Raiders at 7 p.m. Oct. 19.
Division 2
Rice Lake Sectional: Waupaca and New London have a bye in the first round on Oct. 19. No. 2 Waupaca will host No. 7 New London at 7 p.m. Oct. 21.
Division 3
Kiel Sectional: No. 8 Clintonville will host No. 9 Peshtigo at 4 p.m. Oct. 21.
