Student raises money for Wounded Warriors

An Iola-Scandinavia High School student has begun a fundraising campaign through the Wounded Warrior Project.

Dylan Donovan will sell a T-shirt designed with a tribute to veterans with all of the profits going to the Wounded Warrior Project.

“This is something I’ve wanted to do for a long time,” he said. “Ever since I was a small boy, I have had the utmost respect for veterans, always taking the time to shake their hand and thank them for their service.”

After recently participating in a Tough Mudder, which had people come together to help raise awareness through completing the challenge, Donovan was inspired by the efforts of the Wounded Warrior Project.

He is active within the community, but decided that he wanted to broaden his service to a larger area.

“In early September, the idea of the shirt crossed my mind,” Donovan said. “I made a rough design, just a basic black shirt with the Wounded Warrior logo and the slogan on the back.”

After realizing the back was a little bland, he reached out to his friend Victoria Erdmann for a design.

“After putting that design on, I got in contact with members of the Wounded Warrior Project to figure out what needed to be done on the legal side of things,” Donovan said. “Once that was done, I finalized the shirt and started sales.”

He believes this is a great way to honor veterans and make a difference.

Donovan is selling the shirts through the end of the year.

Each shirt costs $20. Anyone interested in buying a shirt can text Donovan at 715-445-6212 or email him at [email protected] with shirt size.
