Bulldogs host Waupaca County Meet

New London boys, Manawa girls win

Bragging rights among six of Waupaca County’s seven high school track teams were on the line April 21, as New London hosted this year’s county meet.

New London and Manawa ended up winning boys’ and girls’ championships, respectively, at the meet that also included teams from Waupaca, Iola-Scandinavia, Weyauwega-Fremont and Clintonville. Marion, which has competed at the meet in the past, did not attend this year’s event.

New London won the boys’ competition with 152.5 points, followed by Iola-Scandinavia (144), Manawa (112), Weyauwega-Fremont (91.5), Clintonville (88) and Waupaca (60).

Team points for the first were Manawa (198), Weyauwega-Fremont (166), New London (153), Clintonville (57), Iola-Scandinavia (27) and Waupaca (12).

First-place finishes for the boys and girls were:

• 100-meter dash: Brayden Arndt, Weyauwega-Fremont (11.48); Lexi Hedtke, Manawa (13.92).

• 200-meter dash: Kyle Wisniewski, New London (23.54); Zoe Buss, New London (29.25).

• 400-meter dash: Trystan Krueger, Clintonville (52.88); Emma Ziepke, Weyauwega-Fremont (1:05.32).

• 800-meter run: Charlie Vater, Iola-Scandinavia (2:11.63): Abby Bartel, Weyauwega-Fremont (2:30.54).

• 1.600-meter run: Charlie Vater, Iola-Scandinavia (4:41.59); Abby Bartel, Weyauwega-Fremont (5:36.77).

• 3,200-meter run: Charlie Vater, Iola-Scandinavia (10:30.57); Abby Bartel, Weyauwega-Fremont (12:28.16).

• 100-meter hurdles (girls): Lauren Zwirschitz, Clintonville (17.23).

• 110-meter hurdles (boys): Grant Bristol, Manawa (17.62).

• 300-meter hurdles: Ian Oberstadt, New London (44.61); Emily Taylor, Clintonville (52.37).

• 400-meter relay: Manawa (Thomas Bartelt, Landon Sobieszczyk, Conner Scheid, Tanner Nienhaus) (45.54); Manawa (Lizzy Bessette, Alivia Trinrud, Alex Fradrich, Camryn Pethke (56.25).

• 800-meter relay: Weyauwega-Fremont (Muluken Rucks, Hayden Orr, Quinn Dittmann, Brayden Arndt) (1:35.9); New London (Nadia Banaszynski, Bre Hacker, Maddie Kloehn, Zoe Buss ) (1:58.28).

• 1,600-meter relay: Waupaca (Hesslin Trzebiatowski, Riley Wahler, Phillip Masias, Bryce Boldt) (3:49.34); Weyauwega-Fremont (Lauren Feltz, Olivia Sedlar, Madison Hansen, Emma Ziepke) (4:36.96).

• 3,200-meter relay: Iola-Scandinavia (Jacob Lashua, Will Meier, Dylan Donovan, Brock Wester) (9:14.21); Manawa (Marilyn Klatt, Amber Fietzer, Jolie Jaeger, Makenzie Jo Krueger) (10:40.75).

• High jump: Sam Wegener, Clintonville (5 feet, 10 inches); Lexi Hedtke, Manawa (4 feet, 8 inches).

• Long jump: Parker Prahl, Iola-Scandinavia (20 feet, 5 1/2 inches); Zoe Buss, New London (14 feet, 3 1/2 inches).

• Triple jump: Parker Prahl, Iola-Scandinavia (41 feet, 3 inches): Lexi Hedtke, Manawa (30 feet, 9 inches).

• Pole vault: Brody Prill, Clintonville (13 feet, 6 inches); Nadia Banaszynski, New London (6 feet, 6 inches).

• Shot put: Sawyer Kohl, New London (41 feet, 5 inches): Lexie Toney, Weyauwega-Fremont (33 feet, 4 inches).

• Discus: Owen Schlueter, New London (147 feet); Addison Marsh, New London (101 feet, 8 inches).
