Volleyball team falls in Division 2

The Waupaca volleyball team’s season came to an end Oct. 20 with a state tournament loss on its home court.
The Comets dropped three of four games to Shawano in a WIAA Division 2 regional semifinal.
Waupaca had opened tournament play Oct. 18 with a win over Rhinelander.
Shawano 3, Waupaca 1
The fifth-seeded Hawks opened the match with the fourth-seeded Comets with a pair of wins.
Waupaca found itself down 2-0 after Shawano won the first two sets 27-25 and 25-23.
The Comets avoided the sweep with a 25-23 win in the third game before the Hawks ended the match with a 25-19 win.
Waupaca 3, Rhinelander 0
The Comets swept the 13th-seeded Hodags 25-12, 25-12, 25-15.
