Lessons from the Art open house

An open house will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 13, at Lessons from the Art. The music, dance and art academy is located at 189 N. Main St.

The open house will provide a chance to meet the academy’s music instructors, register for upcoming classes, plus enjoy a few snacks and welcome a new business. Also on hand will be various local artists showcasing their wares and information on upcoming art classes.

“I’m excited to be open,” stated owner Tammie Jo Berg. “The more I talked to people, the more the idea developed to the point of offering lessons and classes in a multitude of mediums.

“I think there is a need in the local area,” she explained. “The school does a great job with music and art, but there is limited opportunity for private enhancement in the immediate area.”

Berg also found a plethora of artists in Waupaca and Portage counties who were willing to share their expertise.

“I’m very impressed with all of my teachers,” she stated.

Music instructors include Mark Hartmann – acoustic, electric, bass and classical guitar; Inne Choi – piano; Melanie Wiltse – piano and harp; Lindsey Haas – ballet, jazz, hip-hop, tap and modern dance for all ages; Rebekah Wierchowski – Suzuki method violin; and John Keyes – vocal.

Art classes starting soon include watercolor, basketry, quilting, beginning and advanced photography, clay and glass techniques, 3-D arts, fiber art and jewelry.
