Preuss, Glenn L.

Glenn L. Preuss, age 93, of New London, formerly of the Township of Bear Creek, Waupaca County, passed away on Thursday, February 10, 2011 at the St. Joseph Residence, New London. Glenn was born on March 3, 1917 in the Township of Bear Creek, the son of the late Otto and Emma (Kronberg) Preuss. He was baptized on April 15, 1917 and confirmed on May 17, 1931 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Township of Bear Creek. Glenn was united in marriage to Gertrude Miller on April 6, 1936 in Waukegan, IL. The couple had lived and farmed in the Township of Bear Creek most of their married life. While farming, Glenn also operated his own excavating business and provided custom trucking of farm produce for many years. His wife, Gertrude preceded him in death on June 15, 2000 after 64 years of marriage. Glenn had moved to New London in 2006. He was an active, life-long member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, Township of Bear Creek where he had served as Church President, Secretary, and Financial Secretary, a member of the Men’s Club, and sang in the church choir. In his younger days, Glenn managed a 6 piece orchestra and was the vocalist for the group. He also had belonged to the Clintonville Symphony Orchestra. Family history was important to Glenn. He attended 70 years of family reunions and served as president of them for many years. This led him to compile six generations of family history into a reference book. Others hobbies included enjoying nature and the outdoors. Animals were his special joy. Survivors include: 4 daughters: Darlene Preuss, New London, LaVonne (Rodney) Rost, Edgerton, WI, Carolyn Baerenwald, New London, Debbie (John) Tackett, Fond du Lac. His grandchildren: Scott Baerenwald, DeForest, WI, Dawn (Bret) Loy, Sun Prairie, WI, Kristine Tackett, Fond du Lac, LeAnne (Mike) Karls, Chilton. His great-grandchildren: Preston Baerenwald, Mackenzie and Mason Loy and Koralyn and Callie Karls. His sisters-in-law: Virginia (Keith) Gehrke, Manawa, Hazel Miller, Clintonville. Nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Gertrude, 2 sisters, Leona (Art) Tornow and Dorothy (Elmer) Thieme, his brother, Ervin (Ethel) Preuss, 2 sisters-in-law, Margaret (John) Cassell and Marion (Oscar) Schroeder, 2 brothers-in-law, William and Marvin Miller and a step grandson, Mike McIntyre. Funeral services were held 11 A.M., Monday, February 14, 2011 at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Township of Bear Creek with the Rev. Matthew D. Ruesch officiating. Spring interment will be in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Township of Bear Creek. Friends called at the church on Monday from 9:30 A.M. until the time of the service.
