Amherst now 10-0 in CWC-8

It was a chance for the Weyauwega-Fremont boys’ basketball team to pick up a win or two against an opponent in its Division 4 bracket for the upcoming WIAA state tournament.
Amherst and Reedsville had other ideas, however.
The Indians fell to Amherst 60-39 Feb. 11 in a rematch of Central Wisconsin-8 Conference teams and also came up short 53-48 to Reedsville Feb. 9 in a nonconference game.
Amherst 60, W-F 39
The start was a little shaky for the Falcons, but the ending wasn’t.
Amherst improved to 16-1 on the season and 10-0 in CWC-8 play, while W-F fell to 6-11 overall and 3-7 in the CWC-8.
The Indians trailed by as many as 13 points in the first half and were down 29-17 at halftime. Sam Schoenick’s three-pointer cut Amherst’s lead to 33-24 early in the second half, but W-F never got any closer and the Falcons closed out the game with an 11-1 run
Cam Gaulke and Tyler Biadasz led the Falcons with 25 and 19 points, respectively, and Amherst didn’t hit a three-pointer in the game.
Dylan Pankow led W-F with 12 points, while Alex Hulbert added eight.
Reedsville 53, W-F 48
The Panthers rallied from a 44-37 deficit and scored 16 of the game’s final 20 points.
Reesville trailed 27-23 at halftime, but outscored the Indians 30-21 over the next 18 minutes.
Pankow and Jacob Young led the Indians with 18 and 11 points, respectively, while Wyatt Hassemer led Reedsville with 15.
