Comets defeat Truckers

The Waupaca Comets proved why they are a top 10 ranked team in Division 2 on Thursday, Sept. 12, winning in a decisive three sets against the Clintonville Truckers.

The Comets hosted the Truckers the night they introduced a new video board in their gymnasium.

In the first set, the Comets jumped to a 6-2 lead early, and Natalie Waller made it a 14-7 lead with an ace later in the set. Taylor King’s serving helped further the lead as they built a 20-8 advantage.

The Comets continued dominating the Truckers as they won the opening set by a score of 25-9.

The second set opened with the Comets again getting a quick start as they went up 6-1. Claire Bogard delivered a kill for the Comets as they went up 15-7.

Peyton Carlson continued the scoring as the Comets went up 20-11 and won the set 25-12.

A kill by Carlson put the score at 13-4 in the third set for the Comets, as they gained another substantial lead.

The Comets continued to impose their will throughout the set as a block by Rossalyn Wehmeyer finished the third and final set 25-8.
