Lila Johnson, of Scandinavia, age 93, passed away on Sunday, September 15, 2024.
She was born at home in Scandinavia Township on July 23, 1931 to the late Ralph and Lillie (Hiller) Simonson. Lila attended Hellestaid School House, a one room school for the first eight years of her education. She was a member of Scandinavia Lutheran Church, active in the SLCW Group as well as Hellestaid Circle. She was a member of the Friends Of Scandinavia History Group. Lila was a lover of nature and contributed heavily to the formation of the Skunk-Foster Natural Area. Lila enjoyed gardening and was a member of the Iola Scandinavia Gardening Club.
She will be sadly missed by her children: Steven (Barbara) Johnson, Melanie (Michael) Jorgensen, Mark Johnson; grandchildren: Kyle and Blake Johnson, Mark, Matt and Melissa Jorgensen, Brittany Watkins, Nate and Teagan Johnson; 5 great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dane and sisters, Eleanor Eckhardt and Louann Bucher.
The Memorial Service will be on Saturday, September 21, 2024 at 2 p.m. at Scandinavia Lutheran Church. The visitation will be on Saturday at the church from 1 p.m. until the time of the service. The Maple Crest Funeral Home of Waupaca is assisting the family with arrangements.
