Learn about reporting the news in a polarized world

Posted

WAUPACA – The Winchester Academy will present “Finding Fact-Based Journalism in a Polarized World,” presented by Jim Malewitz on September 28 at 6:30 p.m. at the  Waupaca Area Public Library lower level meeting rooms.

Jim Malewitz is managing editor of Wisconsin Watch, where he oversees the statewide newsroom. He has spent nearly his entire career in nonprofit public-affairs journalism.

His work has also appeared in The New York Times, The Washington Post, and Politics Magazine.

Where can people turn for trustworthy information in a polarized world with shrinking local news options? Malewitz’s talk will explore a community-centered model of journalism that listens to residents and investigates solutions to the challenges they face.

This program is sponsored by Jerry and Karen Lyons. For more information or to receive email notification of future Winchester Academy programs, contact Executive Director Ann Linden at 715-258-2927 or winchesterwaupaca@gmail.com. General information is available at http://winchesterwaupaca.org.
