Memorial Day tribute set for Monday

WEYAUWEGA – Residents will gather Monday to honor fallen service members with a Memorial Day parade and cemetery ceremony hosted by American Legion Arndt-Bruley Post 176.

The observance will begin with a short parade kicking off at 8:30 a.m. from the American Legion Hall at 303 North Mill St. The route will travel to the 100 block of East Main Street, continue down East Street, and turn right to proceed directly to Oakwood Cemetery.

Parade participants will include the Weyauwega Area Fire Department, members of American Legion Arndt-Bruley Post 176, Weyauwega-Fremont High School band, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts.

Following the procession, a memorial ceremony will take place at the cemetery at about 9 a.m. The ceremony will feature Weyauwega-Fremont School District Administrator Stacey Wester as the guest speaker.

The observance will officially conclude with the playing of Taps. The morning’s events are expected to last about an hour.
