One dead in two-vehicle crash

FREMONT — On Oct. 22 at 10:30 a.m., a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of U.S. Highway 10 and Old Highway 49 killed one driver and left another person hospitalized.
A truck pulling a trailer was heading east on Highway 10 when it crashed with a car traveling north on Old Highway 49. First responders found the car’s driver trapped inside the wreckage. They worked to rescue the person and provided medical aid, but the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The truck driver sustained injuries that were not life-threatening and was taken to a local hospital.
Deputies closed a section of the highway and redirected traffic for several hours while investigators recorded the scene and the vehicles were towed away and the roadway cleaned up.
