SPASH wins a high scoring matchup against D.C. Everest

SCHOFIELD-The SPASH Panthers faced D.C. Everest Evergreens on Oct. 2 in a Wisconsin Valley Conference game on the road.

SPASH took an early 7-0 lead with a 30-yard screen pass from Trent Breitbach to Isaac Yang.

Breitbach extended the advantage with a 28-yard rushing touchdown, and SPASH would go up 13-0.

D.C. Everest got on the scoreboard with a one-yard touchdown run by quarterback Ty Rohde, making the deficit 13-7.

Breitbach made the lead 21-7 with his second touchdown run from nine yards out and a successful two-point conversion.

Rohde took off on a 53-yard touchdown run that cut into the SPASH lead and made the deficit 21-14.

D.C. Everest tied the game at 21-21 with Rohde’s third touchdown run from 16 yards out.

SPASH answered with a five-yard touchdown run by Breitbach, who made the score 28-21.

“It feels awesome being out there and helping on both sides of the ball it feels like you really have an impact on the game.” said tight end and defensive end Sawyer Ostrowski on his ability to block for the running game.

Rohde threw his first touchdown of the game to tie the score at 28-28 as his pass went off the fingertips of a SPASH defender and was caught by Andrew Bangston for a 65-yard score.

Breitbach responded with a 20-yard touchdown run that broke the tie at 34-28.

D.C. Everest took a 35-34 lead as Rohde scored with a five-yard run to give his team a one-point advantage.

It didn’t take long for the Panthers to regain their lead as Breitbach found Jontarius Moore for a 36-yard touchdown pass to take a 40-35 advantage.

Breitbach found a receiver in the end zone for a 13-yard touchdown pass, and a successful two-point conversion extended the lead to 48-35.

The fourth touchdown run by Breitbach made the score 55-35 as he scored from the D.C. Everest six-yard line to give SPASH a 20-point lead and ice the game.

Breitbach passed for 178 yards and three touchdowns and carried the ball for 192 yards and four touchdowns.
