FREMONT – Partridge Lake Beach reopened last week after being temporarily closed due to record flooding and storm damage.
The beach is located in Partridge Lake Park on Wolf River Drive and reopened after crews finished removing a remaining bog from the area, Village Trustee Steven Van Lyssel confirmed last week.
The waterfront required significant restoration after high water levels left the dock partially submerged, detached and structurally compromised. Following the flooding, the surrounding beach was littered with logs and storm debris.
Recent cleanup efforts involved extensive dock repairs, refreshing the park’s seasonal bathrooms and bringing in new sand, Van Lyssel said. Crews also removed several dead ash trees that were severely impacted by prolonged standing water and soft ground conditions.
An exact total cost for the flood damage was not yet available. Van Lyssel noted that a significant portion of the cleanup involved donated time and the village has not yet received bills for all of the completed work.
