Weyauwega hosts Horse and Buggy Days

The 63rd annual Horse and Buggy is set for Friday and Saturday, Sept. 13-14.

This year’s king and queen are Ian Teal and Kathy Fehl, the dynamic duo that operates the Gerold Opera House and hosts numerous cultural events. The festivities kick off with a brunch sponsored by Crossroads Health Care with former kings and queens and afterwards they will visit local elementary schools to share historic memories of the area.

Music

On Friday night, Loose Cannons will perform in the beer tent from 7 to 11 p.m. On Saturday night, Minus 1 will perform from 7 to 11 p.m.

Parade

The parade will start at noon on Saturday starting from the Waupaca County Fairgrounds with the route going from Elizabeth Street to Main Street. To register to be in the parade, contact the Chamber of Commerce at weyauwegachamberinfo@gmail.com. The Kiddie Parade will begin at 11:30 a.m., meeting at the corner of Main and East Street.

Festivities

On and around Main Street there will be vendors; the famous Historical Society Pie and Ice Cream social will after the parade in city hall’s community room, there will be children’s games and prizes including a a petting zoo and a sawdust pile of money from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

There will be a blacksmithing demonstration and wagon-ride historical tours departing at 1:30, 2:30 and 3:30 p.m. The Weyauwega Public Library will host a book sale.

The Partners Cornhole Tournament will take place at Haufschildts Brew Haus starting at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14. Pre-register at the Brew Haus. It is a 100% payout at $25 per team.
