Jean E. Yost, age 92, passed away on September 17, 2024.

She was born on April 14, 1932 in New London, WI, the daughter of Gerhardt and Dora (Marks) Stern. She graduated from Washington High School in New London and Mercy Hospital School of Nursing. She married James Yost on August 5, 1953, while he was serving in the U.S. Navy. The couple moved several times, to Iowa, Minnesota and back to Oshkosh, WI and then later to Omro. She was employed as a registered nurse in all three states, her last employment being 14 years at Mercy Medical Center ICU in Oshkosh.

In 1991 the couple purchased property in rural Omro and built their retirement home on Lake Butte de Morts. Jean loved music and sang several years with the Oshkosh Choraliers and with church choirs both in Oshkosh and Omro; St. Mary Catholic Church.

The couple enjoyed traveling, taking many trips to almost all the U.S. states by motorcycle and later by travel trailer. They spent many years wintering in Port Isabel, TX. Her real passions were praising the Lord for all her blessings, family gatherings, enjoying the birds, flowers, and wildlife as well as gardening.

Jean is survived by her children, Michael (Juanita) Yost, Thomas Yost, Mary Yost, and Peter Yost; brother, Keith “Chub” (Lorraine) Stern; sister-in-law, “Toots” Stern; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death, her husband, James Yost; daughter, Paula Yost; parents, Gerhardt and Dora; sisters, Glenna (Don) Sipe and Marian (Bob) Kamba; and brother, Gerald Gerhardt “Jerry” Stern.
The family extends a special thank you to Senior Stride Home Care, Eden Meadows and Aurora Hospital Healthcare workers.

Visitation for Jean will be held on Saturday, October 19th, 2024, at St. Mary’s Church, 730 Madison Ave, Omro, WI, from 9:00am-11:00am followed by an 11:00am Mass. Burial will be held at a later date at Most Precious Blood Cemetery in New London.
