Lorraine Mary Mulcahy, née Blomquist, age 96, passed away on Thursday, August 22, 2024, at Bethany Home in Waupaca, WI.
Born on October 28, 1927, in Chicago, IL, Lorraine was the beloved daughter of Orville and Florence Blomquist.
In 1948, Lorraine married George Francis Mulcahy at St. Mary of the Lake in Chicago, IL. Their enduring love and partnership were the cornerstone of her life. Lorraine enjoyed a fulfilling career as an operator with Illinois Bell Telephone Company, a role she cherished for many years. She also spent countless hours giving back to her community by volunteering with Meals on Wheels, the Adopt a Highway Programs, the Veterans Home in Martinsburg, WV, and the American Legion.
Lorraine is survived by her children, Eileen (Wayne) Schwanke, Michael (Helen) Mulcahy, Maureen (Chris) Lawrie, and Daniel (Tina) Mulcahy. She is further survived by her cherished grandchildren, and great grandchildren as well as many loving relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George, and her parents, Orville and Florence Blomquist and a grandson, Jason Mulcahy.
Services will be held at a later date in Windber, PA, at St. John’s Cantius Cemetery.
The family wishes to express their gratitude for the compassionate care Lorraine received at Bethany Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or Theda Care at Home Hospice in Lorraine’s memory.
