Posted

Karen K. Pagel, age 78, of Weyauwega, passed away Thursday, August 29, 2024, at her home.

She was born on April 10, 1946 in New London, WI, the daughter of the late Lawrence and Anita(Abraham)Vohs. She grew up with her older brother, Gary and younger sister, Cathy in the town of Zittau, WI. Karen started school at Mathesons, a little two room school not far from Zittau and then proceeded to graduate from Winneconne High School in 1964.

In March 1964, she met Raymond Pagel walking down the streets of Larsen. They were joined in marriage in West Bloomfield on September 19, 1964. The following August they welcomed their first child, a daughter, Lisa, then their second daughter, Lauri in September of the following year, and four years later, a son Michael joined the family in April. Throughout her ten years and early years of marriage, Karen worked at Immel’s on the Rat River. In 1973 she was hired at Presto Products in Weyauwega where she worked her way up from general laborer to shift supervisor. As a farmer’s wife, Karen became quite good at working in the fields and helping Ray and the children maintain the farm, but she found great joy in cooking and baking, as well as working in her garden and flower beds.

Karen is survived by her husband, Raymond Pagel, who were 22 days shy of their 60th wedding anniversary; two daughters, Lisa Liepert and Lauri Pagel; her son, Michael Pagel, two grandchildren, Lance(Kayla)Pagel, and Heather and (Andy)Pribbernow; great-grandchildren, Holpen, Paisley and Magnolia Pagel and Eleanor and Isabel Pribbernow; her sister, Cathy(Bill)Pastor, her sister-in-law, Joanne Vohs; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her oldest brother, Gary Vohs.

Karen passed peacefully at home. She had a wonderful life filled with family, friends and memories. She will be missed by many.
In honor of Karen’s wishes, a private family service will be held.

Karen’s’ family would like to extend a big thank you to ThedaCare at Home Hospice for helping her make a peaceful transition.
